2027: 'My Brother Can't Win, I've Never Benefited From Him'- Ex-Kwara Governor's Aide Dismisses PDP Candidate Bolakale Kawu
Prince Sulaiman Sai Kayi, a former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Political Matters to the Kwara State Governor, has stirred political controversy after declaring that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Engr. Bolakale Kawu, stands no chance of winning the forthcoming governorship election.
Sai Kayi made the remarks during an appearance on a popular radio programme on Diamond 88.7 FM, where he openly assessed the political prospects of the PDP flagbearer despite acknowledging their personal relationship.
According to him, "Engr. Bolakale Kawu is my brother, but despite our relationship, I have never benefited from him. He cannot win the forthcoming election, even our local government area."
The former governor's aide, however, described Kawu as a man of good character, saying he is well respected both within his family and by members of the public.
While acknowledging the PDP candidate's reputation, Sai Kayi argued that the various empowerment programmes often associated with Kawu were not funded from his personal resources. He maintained that most of the items distributed, including transformers and other interventions, were facilitated through provisions from the Federal Government rather than personal philanthropy.
He further claimed that no individual had benefited from Kawu's personal wealth, insisting that the PDP candidate's empowerment record should not be mistaken for personal generosity.
Sai Kayi's comments are expected to generate fresh political debate in Kwara as political parties intensify preparations for the next governorship election, with stakeholders closely watching the evolving contest between the major contenders.
As of the time of filing this report, Engr. Bolakale Kawu and the Kwara State chapter of the PDP had not publicly responded to the claims made by the former SSA.
