Adeleke's Victory, A testament to Responsive Governance, People's Trust

 By Ibrahim Maroof Adeniyi

My experience during the burial of our grandpa late last year fetched me the opportunity to witness how people Osun actually love their governor. The atmosphere was calm until the musician sounded the name Adeleke and immediately the party went agog.

From afar, have always been thinking that Gov Ademola Adeleke is being over hyped, have always thought he was more of a dancing governor than rendering governance to the people. Perhaps! My assumption was totally wrong when I visited almost nook and crammy of the state of Osun around January this year.

From Okuku down to Ikirun, Inisa, Ire, Ilesa, Ife to Osogbo, sleeping in Ede, down to Iwo along Ejigbo. I toured all major cities and towns in the state. Though my adventures was as a result of work outreach but it gave me a true picture of happenings in Osun.

Seriously, I used the opportunity to interrogate notable people and stakeholders I meet along the way, the major Achilles heel spoken of by few people about Gov Ademola Adeleke was that he concentrated more of infrastructure development in Ede, his home town. However, majority of them believe that even though his work in their territory is more than enough to winning a return ticket.

Well, that's the story for another day but there's one thing it keeps bothering my mind is the issue of Kwara state. According to Yoruba proverbs and I quote....If we use one child to battle another, one will just un-life the other.
Seriously, if We all agree that there was 16 years of rot in PDP government in Kwara state, by the time Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq complete his administration in 2027, it will make 24 years of rotten.

The kind of governance in Kwara is the one that can be classified as Amadu Bello infrastructure. Yes! I don't expect APC which I belong to agree with me but that's the reality. Truly Gov AA has changed the face of Ahmadu Bello way, but in earnest not the entire Kwara state. Personally I respect the strength of any given constituted authority, but the respect given through the fear never last, a true Leader owns people's loyalty with wisdom and Kindness. That's what pay off to Governor Ademola Adeleke in that election.

Consequently, it's important to appreciate President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu towards ensuring people's mandate is sincerely protected in Osun, I hope it allows such to prevail in other states comes 2027 particularly in Kwara State. Sir, fear can force obedience but can never create Trust.

Here in Kwara State, we fear Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq because he finds pleasure in jailing the youth and demolishing properties, he doesn't care whose that have brought the a light even during darkness. We fear Gov AA to the extent we don't want to discuss anything abnormalities in his government or workers welfare. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq is the kind of a leader that stands above everyone in Kwara instead of a leader who works beside his people and help them grow together.

Well, congratulations to Gov Ademola Adeleke of Osun state on such a remarkable victory, this victory is a strong reflection of the confidence and affection of the people have for a leader whose governance is rooted in inclusiveness, development, accessibility and genuine connection with the people.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has shown that one day the masses could choose trust over intimidation, masses could choose trust over fear and he displayed that masses could choose trust over federal influence.

Come 2027 in Kwara state, we will choose a leader who listens, a leader that will protect us instead of making us living with fear everyday.
