BREAKING: Police Clears AIG Moshood Jimoh, Directs Court To Take Over Matter
The Nigeria Police Force has cleared the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, AIG Moshood Jimoh, of allegations raised against him and said the matter should now be handled by the court.
In a statement issued on Monday, 4th August 2026 by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the Police said the criminal case linked to AIG Jimoh had already been investigated and charged to court following advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The statement was in response to recent comments by social media activist Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, who made allegations against the senior officer on social media.
According to the Police, because the case is now subjudice, it will be determined by the judiciary and the Force will not try it in the media.
The Force also disclosed that as part of internal procedure, the AIG, Force Criminal Investigation Department, CID, had invited AIG Moshood Jimoh for questioning. After the review, the Police said there was no basis for further administrative action and directed that the court process should continue.
The statement further revealed that the Force CID Abuja, on 30th July 2026, invited VeryDarkMan to its Abuja office to present evidence to support the allegations he made publicly.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to due process, discipline and the rule of law. It said every officer is subject to the Constitution, the Police Act 2020 and Force Orders, and that no officer is above the law.
The Force urged VeryDarkMan to honour the invitation and allow both the judicial and administrative processes to run their course.
