The Coherence of Banditry in Our Society: An Attribute of Islamisation Mission or a Shared Blame of Religious Bigotry

By Ibrahim Maroof Adeniyi

Let me start my greetings by saying peace being upon us in this joyous and prestigious month of Ramadan.
Permit me to dwell on aspects that I don't usually like to get myself involved on... that's the aspect of religious. Perhaps, in this critical time, it's impacably as a Muslim to keep quiet on some critical issues within our state, particularly giving a reply to a post shared by my Respected Elder Brother Dele Aina .

In one of his post few days ago, he has acclaimed the actions of the killers of Woro village in Kiama LG area of KWARA state as those killing Muslims in that outrageous banditry attack. Though, he condemned the action and labeled the papetrator as...Bad Muslims.

The phrase "Bad Muslims" that caught my attention and decided to comment.

The post was not actually a bad one, don't get it twisted but it got somehow I think we need to ask ourselves...Is there actually a good or bad Muslims? Do we have Bad or good Christians?

Philosophically, there can never be a BAD Christians or Muslims. Yes! U either be a Muslim or Christian. There can never be a BAD or Good one, even the traditional believer.

Let's take for instance, the JURISPRUDENCE of both Islamic and Christianity is structured on Humanities. Forget about the number of times you pray daily or number church programme you attend weekly, if humanities is severe from your attitude, action then, you are doing that in vein.

Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. says in one of his messages "La yu'minu ahadukum hatta yuhibba li-akhIhi mA yuHibbu li-nafsihi.
Meaning...

"None of you is (truly)believer until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself".  In Surat Ma'ida Qur'an 5 Chapter 32, it was clearly stated that...."Taking a life unjustly is like Killing all Humanity and Saving a life is like saving all humanities " this trend is the same in the Holy Bible "Mathew chapter 5:9, "Blessed is for the Peace maker, for they will be called children of God" Also in Romans 12:18.

I can go on and on and on.
In a nutshell, I think it's high time we stop a blame game on the issue of Banditry in Nigeria. Is like we still don't believe that there's a fire on the mountain. In fact, enough of Tribal subjectivity of insecurity in the country. Ehnnnn it's Fulani, it's Yoruba ni, Ehhhhn it's the Niger Delta ni, all these should stop honestly.
In as much we have so many good Yorubas, we definitely have few bad ones, we could definitely have very few bad Fulanis, Igbos or Hausas but I can bet you, Majority of them are the best. However, we can never have a BAD Christians or Muslims, they either non Christian nor non Muslims.

May Almighty Allah restore sanity and peace to our dear state and entire country at large. May we never be a victim of kidnapping. Amin 🙏

My name is Ibrahim Maroof Adeniyi, just to let you know that I'm not a Muslim by name but a practicing one. And that I love Christianity as a religion as well. Shalom
