Lawal Oko-Ode Replies A.G.F Salahudeen, Says Legislator's Role Goes Beyond Lawmaking Only

The PDP candidate for Kwara State House of Assembly, Omupo Constituency, Abdulrasak Abiodun Lawal Oko-Ode has stated that lawmaker's responsibility is not limited to lawmaking only.

Abdulrasak Lawal Oko-Ode while reacting to comments of APC candidate, A.G.F Salahudeen on a Live Radio programme that Assembly member sole responsibility is take make laws without introducing empowerment programmes for their constituents, he described the assertion as fallacy and shows lack of understanding on the part of APC candidate.

He said lawmaker is expected to carry out oversight functions, serve as link between the constituents and government, and introduce programmes to improve welfare as well as wellbeing of the people.

The PDP candidate noted his 10-point agenda which the APC candidate described as misplaced priority was designed to bring dividend of democracy to people of Igbaja, Idofian, Omupo, Agunjin and Ora wards.

According to him, the soft loan traders, fertilizer subsidy for farmer, free feeding for primary pupils, quarterly empowerment for aged, training of graduates and vocational training for non-graduates will be funded with part of his salary and constituency allowance.

The PDP candidate for Omupo Constituency added that he has unveiled his legislative focus to cover Pension reform, bill for restructuring of Road traffic management driven by technology, advocate for funding of technical education,  agriculture and others.

Stressing that he has collated the challenges facing the people of Igbaja, Omupo, Idofian, Agunjin and Ora wards during his door-to-door campaign and promised to submit it to relevant government agencies for prompt action when elected.

Lawal Oko-Ode assured his constituents that he will be a good representative by always prioritising their interest at the state level and attracts many projects to Omupo Constituency in every year's budget.

The PDP candidate therefore advised other contestant to base their campaign on issues rather than bringing up unnecessary sentiment to lure voters ahead of Saturday's poll.
