Agbabiaka Road: Kwara Commissioner Is Economical With The Truth- Group
The residents of Agbabiaka area in Ilorin under the aegis of Kwara Youth for Development have scolded Kwara state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Aro Yahaya for been economically with truth while reacting to debacle about Gaa Akanbi-Agbabiaka road.
The group in a statement issued on Wednesday by their Convener, Ganiyu Nasir said it was obvious that the commissioner could not defend the state government during the live radio programme on Royal FM, Ilorin.
Ganiyu noted Gaa-Akanbi-Agbabiaka road is different from Gaa-Akanbi-Ola-olu road, therefore describing the two roads as one is act of desperation to cover their lies as contained in Governor Ahmed’s 2019 budget presentation speech.
“For purpose of clarification, Gaa-Akanbi-Ola-olu road (bad portion before Erinle road) was rehabilitated by Kwara State Road Maintenance Agency (KWARMA) in October, 2018. Therefore, his argument on radio is out place and deliberate attempt to confuse unsuspecting residents.” He explained.
He said the proposed meeting with community associations in the area will not stop the group from embarking on mass protest, if kwara state government fails to mobilize contractor to site within one week.
Ganiyu hinted that Kwara Youth for Development has written to notify Directorate of State Security Services (DSS), Police and other agencies about their plan to use lawful to drive home their demands.
Earlier, some journalists stormed the area to get reaction of residents and motorists plying the route to confirm the story.
About 50 people including Okada riders, Keke Napep drivers, motorists, traders and residents disclosed that no contractor work on the road in 2018.
They therefore appealed to Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed’s administration to rehabilitate the road as claimed.
