Gobir Celebrates Moddibo Kawu at 66
The Sarkin Gobir and Madawaki of Ilorin, Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, has congratulated Dr. Ishaq Modibbo Kawu on his birthday, describing him as a distinguished journalist, broadcaster, intellectual and public commentator whose work has contributed significantly to public discourse in Nigeria.
In a statement issued to mark the occasion, Gobir said Dr. Kawu’s decades of engagement in journalism, broadcasting and public affairs have made him one of the notable voices to emerge from Kwara State.
“Dr. Modibbo Kawu has devoted a significant part of his life to the service of society. His intellectual depth, courage of conviction and willingness to engage critically with issues of national importance have earned him a distinctive place in our public life,” Gobir said.
He noted that Dr. Kawu’s career across various institutions and platforms has given him a broad perspective on Nigeria’s political, social and media landscape.
“One of Dr. Modibbo’s enduring qualities is his intellectual independence and willingness to speak frankly on matters he considers important. He has consistently brought an independent voice and perspective to the national conversation,” Gobir said.
Gobir also acknowledged the personal bond they share, describing Dr. Kawu as “a valued member of our extended family and someone whose journey and contributions I have followed with admiration.”
He prayed that Almighty Allah would grant Dr. Kawu many more years in good health, wisdom and fulfilment, and give him continued strength and opportunity to contribute to the development of Kwara State and Nigeria.
