New Year Advisory: A Confession of Failure by an Absentee Government — Kwara PDP
....Questions wherebaout of 2000 Forest Guards recently trained by Gov't
The Kwara state Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken note of the security advisory issued by the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led Kwara State Government ahead of crossover services and the New Year celebrations, and we must state without equivocation that the statement is a clear admission of failure, panic, and total collapse of leadership in Kwara State
For a government that has abandoned its primary responsibility of securing lives and property, this advisory is nothing but a public declaration of submission to the whims and caprices of criminal bandits who now appear to have overwhelmed the Abdulrazaq administration.
In a statement issued in Ilorin and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party described the government’s caution as an irresponsible attempt to transfer the burden of its incompetence to innocent citizens who have already suffered enough under Governor AbdulRahman absentee leadership.
Rather than inspire confidence and provide necessary security supprt , the government is spreading fear and signals that the state government has lost control of the security architecture of Kwara State.
The PDP finds it disturbing and questions where the 2000 recently celebrated forest guards have been deployed to after months of camping with taxpayers money .
The government, instead of strengthening intelligence, equipping security agencies, and confronting criminal elements head-on, is placing Kwarans under a tacit house arrest at a time meant for reflection, gratitude, and celebration of a new year. This is anti-people, unacceptable, and shameful of a government
We therefore call on the resilient people of Kwara State not to succumb to fear or allow an absentee government to rob them of the joy and communal spirit of the New Year. While citizens should celebrate with decorum and remain vigilant, they should also extend hands of kindness to neighbors and loved ones in keeping with the spirit of unity, hope, and renewal that defines the season.
We challenges Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to explain why, 48 hours after his pretentious condemnation of the brutal assault on aged Ifelodun women protesters, his government has failed to parade, arrest, or prosecute the state-sponsored thugs who carried out the attack in full public view.
Failure to effect any arrest since Governor pretentious declaration only reinforces public suspicion that the Governor’s hands are not clean in the worsening insecurity and lawlessness confronting our people.
As we approach the New Year, the PDP wishes all Kwarans a happy, peaceful, and prosperous 2026 in advance. We urge the people to remember the pain, intimidation, assaults, and abandonment they have endured under the Abdulrazaq-led government, and to resolve firmly that this era of absentee leadership must not be reinforced in 2027.
