National Youth Council Of Nigeria Calls For Urgent Action On Socio-Economic Challenges

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has issued a communiqué calling for urgent action to address the socio-economic challenges facing the country. The communiqué was released after a meeting with its National Executive, 36 State Chairmen, and other stakeholders on July 24, 2024.

According to the NYCN, the current socio-economic situation in Nigeria, including rising inflation, insecurity, unemployment, and general hardship, has reached alarming levels. The council recognizes the need for a coordinated response to these issues, which have sparked widespread agitation and calls for a nationwide protest.

The NYCN has resolved to:

- Engage in wide consultation and stakeholder engagement within the next 4 days.

- Hold a world press conference on July 31, 2024, to address the nation and outline its position on the planned protest.

- Put its millions of members and affiliated organizations on standby for further direction

The council reaffirmed its commitment to representing Nigerian youths and advocating for positive change. It called on all stakeholders to support its efforts towards a better Nigeria.

The NYCN's move comes as the country prepares for a planned nationwide protest on August 1, 2024, over the socio-economic challenges facing the nation.
