'Muktar Shagaya Has Sponsored More Bills Than Entire Kwara Assembly In One Year' - Alagunmu
This revelation was made by social critic and radio commentator, Comrade Abdulsalam Alagunmu, during a radio programme monitored by our correspondent in Ilorin.
Alagunmu, while assessing the first anniversary of the legistors at both National and state levels, criticized the current members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, describing them as "a bunch of rubber stamp rookies" who merely warming their seats without contributing meaningful legislative work.
Alagunmu lauded Muktar Shagaya for his proactive approach and dedication to legislative duties.
"In a spate of one year, Hon. Muktar Shagaya, a young and vocal first timer, has presented more bills and moved more motions than the combined team of the 24-member state assembly in Kwara state. This is very disappointing to say the least."
"Whereas Muktar has sponsored about 12 bills, the state assembly in Kwara,. comprising of about 24 members, have merely sponsored a total of 9 bills, most of which emanated from the Kwara State Government."
According to Alagunmu, Shagaya's numerous sponsored bills demonstrate his commitment to addressing the needs and aspirations of his constituents, a commitment he finds lacking in the state assembly.
The commentary has ignited widespread discussion among political analysts and constituents, many of whom share Alagunmu's sentiments regarding the efficacy and productivity of their elected officials at the state level.
