Fire Razes Building In Ilorin, Destroys Property
Residents were thrown into frenzy as thick smoke suddenly covered the air, forcing many of them to trace the smoke to the building that is already blazing.
Residents watched helplessly as the fire consumed the building because personnel of the Kwara State Fire Service were unable to put off the fire.
When our correspondent got to the scene of the incident, residents were seen throwing buckets of water into the raging inferno so as to quench it or even see if such efforts could abate the inferno, but all was to no avail.
According the owner of the house Dr. Abdulrasheed Olasunkanmi Adegboye, who is a University of Ilorin lecturer and a consultant at University of Ilorin teaching hospital who spoke with our correspondence said "I can't say precisely how it happened but I was within the town when my wife called me around 11pm yesterday evening that our house was on fire and she couldn't make use of her phone because she was unable to take her phone from the house"
"I rushed down to inform the fire service personnel at Unity area of Ilorin, but when I get their I was told that they have been informed by a radio station and that they are already on their way and when I got to Maraba I saw their vehicle coming I overtook the vehicle and I told the driver to follow me and by the time we got home the whole place was already on fire. He stressed.
He further said "They were on it for like 45 minutes when the Kwara hotel segment of the fire service men also came with their vehicle but they where unable to quench the fire and the whole house got burnt.
