Kayode Oyin-Zubair Accuses Critics of 'Gutter Politics' Amid Kwara APC Crisis

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Kayode Oyin-Zubair, has criticised what he described as attempts to misrepresent the ongoing political crisis within the party, accusing unnamed individuals of engaging in "gutter politics" to undermine members of the G15 group.

In a statement, Oyin-Zubair said the current challenges facing the Kwara APC were largely "self-inflicted" and resulted from the poor handling of what he described as an internal party arrangement.

"My attention has been drawn to a piece circulating on social media on the current political impasse in Kwara APC," he said.

"While I agree that the self-inflicted trauma was largely occasioned by the poor handling of what was supposed to be an internal arrangement, I will never reduce a collective effort to a mere selfish pursuit."

He alleged that some individuals were attempting to create divisions within the G15 group through misinformation.

"The strategy of the spin doctors is to set genuine members of the G15 against themselves and then portray them as enemies of the people who seek daily bread," Oyin-Zubair stated.

According to him, the group's agitation is aimed at restoring internal democracy and ensuring broader participation within the party.

"Every leader of the movement seeking restoration of sanity to our great party has a first address. This agitation will benefit all, including those on the other side when the party is free from the clutches of the overlords. Participatory democracy assures mutual respect and even development among all regions," he said.

Expressing optimism about the movement's progress, Oyin-Zubair maintained that the group's efforts were yielding results.

"We are happy that the agitation is making progress and soon power will return to the people. Interestingly, when we sneeze, they catch cold," he added.

The statement comes amid continuing debates over internal leadership and political alignments within the Kwara APC, with different blocs advancing competing positions on the party's direction.
