Over 1400 Released Repented Boko Haram Member; Letter To President Muhammadu Buhari
By Comr. Adedayo Said-Balogun
Dear President Muhammadu Buhari,
Today I joined millions of Nigerians to condemn your actions over the release of the 1400 repented Boko Haram members.
I know the President decision was done in good faith and part of holistic approach to end insurgency that already claims thousands of lives and destruction of public and private properties worth billions of naira, especially in Norrth East.
However, Mr President how did you want the parents, widows and orphans of the fallen Nigerian soldiers feel when they see the killers of their sons, husbands and fathers walking as a free man on the street?.
The release of the so called repentant insurgents is contrary to this administration promise to defeat Boko Haram, on the excuse that the Boko Haram members have now repented after been rehabilitated?.
Mr President what message are you sending to the living soldiers who buried their colleagues who fell at the war front? Are you saying their nation is not worth dying for or the labour of the fallen heroes are in vain? Or they should also leave their duty post and run for their lives since the country they are fighting for is not worth it?
Finally sir, what the assurance that those repentant insurgents are truly rehabilitated and won't come back again with full force to cause more havoc on our nation since you did not let them feel the gravity of what they did all in the name of rehabilitation.
On this ground my submission is "the Only Repentant Boko Haram Member is a Dead One!". I therefore urge the federal government to review this decision and alternatively keep repentant Boko Haram members in protective custody during the peace enforcement process.
