Hon. Owolabi Rasaq Meets Kwara Cleaners, Urges Them To Discharge Their Duties Diligently
The Chairman Kwara State House Committee on Health and environment matters, Hon Owolabi Rasaq has urged the Ilorin metropolis Cleaners to discharge their duties diligently and rid society of dirts.
Hon. Owolabi Rasaq made this call early hours of today during a meeting with the Kwara State Cleaners, in charge of cleaning the Ilorin metropolis in Adeta area of Ilorin.
The Lawmaker said "We discovered that Oja-Oba, pakata, Gambari, Emirs Road, Okelele, Omoda, itakudima, to Isale Oja is becoming too dirty and we also discovered that you are cleaning these places but the reason is unknown.
"I want to encourage you all to be punctual in discharging your duties, by getting to your work place at the right time so that our society will be clean because this administration led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will not tolerate any form of indiscipline and dirtiness in our society."
He however urged the people of Kwara to keep their environment clean and to dispose their wastes properly at the right place and in doing this, it will keep our society free from diseases.
"I want to appeal to our people, to keep their surroundings clean and they should stop littering the roads and drainages with feaces and waste and they should wait for the dispose their waste in the right place."
Hon. Owolabi also tasked the Kwara State Ministry of Environment and forestry to put more efforts in monitoring the activities of the cleaners.
He said "I acknowledge the performance of Alhaji Al-Amin the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment and forestry, but I want the ministry to still put in more efforts in overseeing the activities of the cleaners so as to have a society that will be free from dirt and diseases."
While responding to the Honourable member, one of the cleaners appeal to the Hon. Owolabi to use his influence as the Chairman House Committee on Health and environment matters to formulate laws that will protect the cleaners against bullies and maltreatment from the citizens.
Hon. Owolabi therefore pledged support for the cleaners and promise them that with the support of the Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu and 9th Kwara Assembly, the government will look into their plights and necessary actions will be taken.
Other Member of the House Committee on Health and environment matters present at the meeting is Hon. Ganiyu Abolarin Gabriel.
