Treat All Political Parties As Equal; Kwara PDP Chairman Appeal To Traditional Rulers
AKOGUN Iyiola Oyedepo the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to traditional rulers in Kwara state to see all political parties as their children and treat them as equal.
Oyedepo made the appeal on Thursday in Isanlu Isin during a visit to the Olusin of Isanlu Isin, Oba Solomon Oloyede Adogbajale.
“Royal fathers should be neutral in the scheme of things as far as politics is concerned, you should see all political parties as your babies,” Oyedepo added.
The Chairman had earlier visited Oke Ero and Irepodun local governments as part of his visit to the 16 local government areas in the state, the second in three years.
At the palace of Olusin of Isanlu Isin, Oyedepo said he was at the local government to orientate the people to play politics at it should
be played.
The chairman also told the royal father that the time has come to change the political affairs of the state, adding that the people of the local government should not sit on the fence.
At the palace of Alofa of Ilofa in Oke Ero local government, Oyedepo told the royal father, Oba Samuel Niyi Dada that traditional rulers were not suppose to take side with any political party.
“We are all your children and you should see us and treat us equally without any preferential treatment, every political party that comes to you deserves your royal blessing,” he said.
The PDP chairman held town hall meetings with the people in the three local governments so far visited.
The also visited the Olomu-in Council and Olupo of Ajase ipo, Oba Dhikirullah Woleola.
At Omu Aran town hall meeting, in Irepodun local government area, Oyedepo told the gathering that they should not be deceived by anybody parading themselves as anointed governorship candidate of the party.
According to him, whoever that will fly PDP flag will emerge through the most transparent means.
He appealed to the people, particularly PDP members to deemphasize money politics during elections as this will never produce the best candidate.
Oyedepo charged the members to hold weekly meetings at the ward,
fortnightly at local government levels and monthly at the Senatorial district to sell the party to non members.
He said the party has inaugurated 5-member Polling booth managers in all the 193 wards in the state.
The chairman said henceforth, campaign materials shall be supplied to the wards through the booth managers.
In each of the local governments visited, Oyedepo implored the people to register and collect their Permanent Voter Card (PVC), to enable them vote for candidates of their choice.
