A PRESS CONFERENCE BY IGBOMINA NATIONAL STUDENTS UNION, NATIONAL HEADQUATERS ON 3RD MAY, 2018 AT AL-HIKMAH UNIVERSITY DURING IGBOMINA DAY OF AL-HIKMAH CHAPTER

PROTOCOL

A  CLARION CALL.

Igbomina National Students Union, National Headquarters (INSU NHQ) is the body representing the interest of Nigeria Students, particularly those who are indigenous citizens of Igbomina.

The membership cut across five local Governments in the two main state of Nigeria ‘’ OSUN STATE and KWARA STATE’’. In Kwara State, the Union enjoys membership from three local governments; IREPODUN, ISIN and IFELODUN. While in Osun state we have our members from two local governments; ILA and IFEDAYO. There is no gainsaying to affirm that this prestigious indigenous union has membership of over two million students schooling in Nigeria tertiary institutions with students in Diaspora from the monocot to professional level.

On this note, I hereby declare Igbomina National Students Union has the most populous indigenous union. The priority of this noble union is to build unity and a sense of oneness in our diversification.

Over the years, this Indigenous Student Union had been relegated to the lowest of the low, the incumbent administration 2018/2019 National Executives is saddled with the responsibility to fast track all mechanism to revive the Union from the shackle of oppressors and give our students good welfares and genuine unionism, with diplomacy well branded in scientific pragmatic concept they deserve.

According to JOHN C. MAXWELL, he said ‘’ Leadership is Influence’’. I want to assert and assure Igbomina Students at home and abroad that hands are on desk to influence the appropriate quarters to prioritize the call of reviving our noble union.

Based on the aforementioned, it is obvious that the sons and daughters of Igbomina who are well blessed, had refused the yelling of the noble union which is due to past events and happenings. We therefore implore all students to work for our collective right.

Meanwhile, we have other business tycoons, philanthropist, clergies, politicians and erudite whose intervention would definitely take the union to the promise land.

As at today this Indigenous Student Union has plots of land at AJase Ipo in Kwara State without any structure on it, not even a block, all as a result of no patronage from our people at home and abroad.

Furthermore, I want to reiterate that the destroyer will have their names enshrined in the golden book of record, although one is for good and the other for bad.

At this juncture, I am seeking the indulgence of all Igbomina citizens at home and abroad to prioritize the love of our land. We should live a life that others will be willing to emulate, our daily life should be based on this formula ‘Igbomina first and others’, I am sure once this is done, our land would be back to what it was used to be in the 70s.

To philanthropist, business tycoons, clergies, politicians; Senators, House of Representative Members, State House of Assembly Members, Chairpersons at Local Government and various Appointees who are Citizens of Igbomina are pleaded with to give back to their source.

Kindly accept this as a clarion call to give back to the community that made you. This is service to humanity. I will like to remind you of this salient fact that ‘service to humanity is the greatest work of life’.

We as student union body have come to conclusion that what Nigeria is experiencing as at today is ‘’Economic Tsunami’’ and the only way out is entrepreneurship and empowerment for the youth. Hence, we need support of all and sundry for our vision and mission to materialize.

To prove our spirited unity and focus, that is why we have continue to partner with progressive foundations to ensure that all our students get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) at their respective Local Government, so as to showcase our oneness and patriotic citizenry.

The unity of Nigeria as one is our priority while the betterment of Kwara and Osun States is our craving day in and out as progressive minded students.

In conclusion, we owe the boon Igbomina students a lot and we promise not to betray the trust you’ve vested in us.

I implore all sons and daughters of Igbomina at home and in diasporas to shun all act that can tarnish the image of our father land, and misrepresentation on various campuses and community.

I want to assure you categorically that we shall never rest until our land metamorphoses to what is befitting and meant to be.
