PHOTONEWS: Kwara Governor’s Cousin Begins Gubernatorial Campaign Under NDC, Posters Flood Ilorin Metropolis

Fresh political developments have begun to reshape the landscape ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State, following the emergence of Mallam AbdulRahman Giwa — reportedly a cousin to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq — as a governorship aspirant under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Campaign posters bearing Giwa’s image and gubernatorial ambition have surfaced across major parts of Ilorin, sparking widespread political conversations and signaling the early commencement of permutations ahead of the 2027 polls.

The posters, which have reportedly flooded strategic locations within the Ilorin metropolis, have generated reactions among political stakeholders, particularly within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), amid growing succession debates in the state.

Reports indicate that the NDC has recently intensified efforts to establish political structures in Kwara State, including the inauguration of party executives following a congress reportedly held in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Ilorin.

Political observers believe Giwa’s emergence under the opposition platform could introduce new dynamics into the state’s political equation, especially as consultations and alignments ahead of the 2027 governorship race continue to gather momentum.
