2027: Yahaya Seriki Youth Alliance Hails Endorsement of Amb. Yahaya Seriki as Kwara APC’s Preferred Successor

The Yahaya Seriki Youth Alliance has congratulated Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (MFR) on his endorsement as the preferred successor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, describing the move as a victory for youth inclusion, political stability, and continuity of development in the state.

The endorsement was announced after extensive consultations with party structures and leadership across Kwara’s 16 local government areas. Party stakeholders said the decision was aimed at ensuring cohesion, unity, and the continuous success of the APC as the state prepares for its gubernatorial primaries scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026.

In a statement signed by the Convener of the Yahaya Seriki Youth Alliance, the group said the endorsement reflected the will of a broad cross-section of APC members who recognized Amb. Seriki’s capacity to consolidate the gains of the last seven years and expand opportunities for young people.

“Young, pro-people, astute, and broad-minded, Amb. Yahaya Seriki has been a great political mobiliser with profound investments in and extensive goodwill among the people of Kwara State,” the Alliance stated. “We have no doubt about his capacity, and his choice is appropriate for the people of our state at this time.”

A Candidate with Grassroots Reach and National Exposure

Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, who holds the national honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), has built a reputation as both a grassroots mobiliser and a diplomat with international exposure. Over the past decade, he has invested heavily in education, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment programs across Kwara Central and beyond.

Party leaders noted that his track record of political mobilization and his ability to bridge generational gaps made him uniquely positioned to lead the APC into the 2027 election cycle. The Youth Alliance said his candidacy would energize young voters and give them a direct stake in governance.

“For us in the Yahaya Seriki Youth Alliance, this is more than an endorsement. It is an affirmation that the APC in Kwara is ready to entrust its future to a leader who understands the aspirations of the youth and has the experience to deliver on them,” the statement read.

Primaries Remain Open, But Unity is the Goal

The Alliance stressed that the endorsement did not close the door to other aspirants. It acknowledged that the APC remains a party of democratic contestation and that all qualified members have the right to seek the ticket.

“While this does not in any way preclude all other aspirants from contesting in the primaries, we urge members and leaders to affirm the choice of Seriki as our candidate for cohesion, unity, and continuous success of the party,” the group said.

It added that in a race involving 16 aspirants for one office, only one person could emerge at a time. The Alliance called on all contenders to embrace sportsmanship and prioritize party unity above personal ambition.

“The choice of Amb. Yahaya Seriki is neither a disapproval of any of our eminently qualified aspirants nor a whimsical attempt to delegitimise the noble aspirations of our people,” the statement noted. “It is a strategic decision to position the APC for victory and stability.”

Commendation for Fellow Aspirants

The Yahaya Seriki Youth Alliance also commended the discipline and statesmanship displayed by other aspirants in the race. It said their participation had enriched the internal democratic process and demonstrated the depth of talent within the APC in Kwara.

“We acknowledge and commend the statesmanship of our aspirants, all of whom have shown discipline and impressive capacity to build on the undeniable achievements of our administration over the last seven years for the good of the people of Kwara State,” the Alliance said.

Party observers in Ilorin say the endorsement could reduce pre-primary friction and allow the APC to focus on campaigning rather than internal disputes. They noted that managing a field of 16 aspirants would require strong leadership and clear communication from the party.

Focus on Continuity and Development

The Alliance said Amb. Seriki’s agenda aligned with the APC’s commitment to infrastructure, human capital development, and economic empowerment in Kwara. It pointed to his investments in vocational training, small business support, and community projects as evidence of his readiness to govern.

“Our administration has laid a strong foundation in the last seven years. What Kwara needs now is a leader who can consolidate these gains, expand them, and ensure that no community is left behind,” the group said.

It urged APC members across Kwara South, Kwara Central, and Kwara North to rally behind the endorsed candidate ahead of the May 21 primaries, stressing that unity was critical to retaining the state in 2027.

Youth Mobilisation for 2027

The Yahaya Seriki Youth Alliance announced plans to mobilize young voters across the state in support of Amb. Seriki’s candidacy. It said the group would embark on town hall meetings, voter education campaigns, and grassroots engagement to ensure high turnout and party cohesion.

“This endorsement is a call to action for young people in Kwara. We must organize, participate, and defend the future of our state within the APC,” the Convener said.

The Alliance concluded by expressing confidence that Amb. Seriki’s leadership would strengthen the APC’s dominance in Kwara and deliver tangible benefits to communities across the state.

What Comes Next

With the primaries set for May 21, 2026, attention now shifts to how other aspirants respond and whether the party can maintain unity through the process. The APC National Secretariat has not commented on the endorsement, but party sources in Ilorin say the decision reflects a consensus among key stakeholders.

The Yahaya Seriki Youth Alliance said it would continue to monitor developments and work to ensure that the APC presents a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
