Ex-Kwara Commissioner, Rotimi Iliasu, Resigns from APC

Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu, a former Commissioner for Works in Kwara State, has formally resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a resignation letter dated March 6, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of Oloru Ward in Moro Local Government Area, Hon. Iliasu announced his decision to step down from the ruling party with immediate effect.

According to the letter, the former commissioner cited Article 9.5 (i) of the APC Constitution in formally notifying the party of his resignation.

Hon. Iliasu explained that the decision followed a period of deep reflection and consultation, noting that the current political direction of the party no longer aligns with his personal vision and aspirations for the development of the state.

“After a period of deep reflection and consultation, I have concluded that the party’s current political direction no longer aligns with my personal vision and aspirations for a better Kwara State,” he stated.

Despite leaving the party, the former Works Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to the progress and development of the people of Kwara State, stressing that he intends to pursue this goal through a political path that better reflects his beliefs and ideological convictions.

He also expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunities he was given during his time as a member of the party.

Copies of the resignation letter were also sent to the APC State Chairman in Kwara State and the APC Chairman in Moro Local Government Area.

As of the time of filing this report, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State had yet to issue an official response regarding the development.
