PHOTOS: Bandits Storm Kwara Community; Several Feared Dead, Homes Burnt

Around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, residents of Woro village in Gbanabe One Ward of Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, were thrown into panic following a suspected bandit attack, reports reaching KwaraReporters indicate.

Local sources said armed men believed to be bandits surrounded the community and launched an assault. As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of people killed or injured could not be ascertained, as efforts to confirm casualties were still ongoing.

An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity described the terrifying scene, saying parts of the community were set ablaze during the attack.

“Part of the community was set ablaze. Shortly after, we saw a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jet fighter hovering over the area around New Bussa, as though responding to the crisis,” the resident said.

There has been no official confirmation from security agencies including the police, military, or Kwara State government regarding the incident, casualty figures, or the involvement of the jet aircraft.

The attack comes amid rising insecurity across parts of Kwara State, where bandit groups in recent months have carried out raids, killings, kidnappings, and other violent acts in rural communities, despite ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb such crimes.

Below are some pictures obtained from the attack scene.
