Kwara PDP Condemns Continued Closure of Schools in Kwara South, North

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the continued closure of schools across Kwara South and Kwara North since December, describing the action as counterproductive and detrimental to the future of the state’s children.

This position was contained in excerpts from the party’s maiden State Working Committee (SWC) meeting for 2026. The committee noted that shutting down schools as a response to security challenges is inimical to educational development and places an unfair burden on students and parents.

The PDP SWC called on the Kwara State Government to immediately reverse the policy and reopen all affected schools, urging the authorities to instead strengthen security around educational institutions.

According to the party, the safety of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government and should not be shifted onto children through the prolonged disruption of their education.

The committee emphasized that the future of Kwara’s children must not be sacrificed due to the failure of the current administration to adequately address security concerns in the state.
