Kwara PDP Demands Probe Into The $800 Million Dollars Contract Secretly Awarded to Gov. AbdulRahman’s Brother
The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is shocked to learn of a weighty allegation made publicly by an APC chieftain and a former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ilyasu Moro, who on a live radio programme claimed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had secrrtly awarded a contract worth Eight Hundred Million US Dollars ($800,000,000) to one of his blood brothers.
The PDP in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara said the $800million contract scandal claim, is not at this time ,coming from the opposition but from a core member of the governor’s political family and will not be appropriate if ignored.
In fact, it raises serious ethical, legal, and moral questions about how Kwara resources are being managed under the current administration.
For the first time, we commend the courage of Alhaji Ilyasu , a respected APC stakeholder who has done this whistle blowing. His radio outburst has confirmed what we have been warning Kwarans about for years — that Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq is running kwara government like a private family enterprise, where contracts, public funds, and state opportunities are dubiously shared among the AbdulRazaq"s family without transparency, due process, or accountability.
We want to state categorically that this is no longer an issue of political rivalry. When a senior APC figure announces on air that the governor secretly handed a contract of this magnitude to his sibling, it becomes a matter of public trust, public funds, and public accountability.
In the interest of the people of Kwara State and to protect the integrity of public institutions, our party calls for:
1. Immediate public explanation from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq addressing the specific claim that a contract worth $800million was given to his brother.
2. Full disclosure of all contracts awarded since 2019, including beneficiaries, cost breakdowns, and procurement processes.
3. Disclosure of the company name, project details, and funding source of the said contract.
4. Immediate investigation by the House of Assembly into the alleged $800 million contract awarded to the Governor's brother .
5. If possible, Summon Alhaji Ilyasu Moro by the house to provide further details on the allegation.
We make bold to state that this, if found to be true is one of the most serious corruption scandals ever committed by any sitting governor in the history of Kwara State. An $800 million contract—almost equivalent to the entire multi-year budget of many Nigerian states—cannot be swept under the carpet with silence or political mischief.
The Kwara PDP will continue to speak for the people of this state. We will ensure that this allegation is not covered up. We will take further actions if within 3 days , the Governor failed to speak up on this heavy allegation thay borthers on Kwara collective patrimony.
