Ilorin, April 13, 2025 — The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of popular Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, over allegations bordering on criminal defamation and other related offences.
According to a statement released by the Command's spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest followed a formal petition submitted by Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly known as “Osupa,” who accused the controversial artiste of defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, and the use of abusive and insulting language.
“Following the gravity of the allegations and the evidence provided, the Command obtained a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin,” the statement said.
Acting on the warrant, police operatives from the Kwara Command travelled to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where Portable was apprehended on Saturday, April 13, 2025, at about 7:25 PM. He was subsequently transported to Ilorin for further investigation.
Police say the suspect’s statement was obtained in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. He remains in custody as the Command makes preparations to charge him to court.
The Command assured the public of its commitment to the rule of law, emphasizing that the case would be handled with transparency and fairness. The public has also been urged to avoid spreading unverified information as investigations continue.
