Ilorin South Chairman Vandalizes Community Transformers To Please Governor Abdulrazaq – PDP
…Calls on IBEDC, Security Agencies to Investigate and Prosecute
The Kwara PDP strongly condemns the actions of the Ilorin South Local Government Chairman, Mr Abdulmajid Kpodo who, in a cheap display of political loyalty to his employer, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, vandalized a 500kva transformer donated by Senator Salihu Mustapha to Alagbado Community within the council area.This act is not only irresponsible but also a gross disservice to the people of the Alagbado community, who will now be subjected to prolonged darkness due to Kpodo's disregard for the welfare of his people and his prioritization of political sycophancy over community interest.
It is important to remind Ilorin South people and Kwarans that this same council chairman and the rest of his colleagues were not elected by the people but were rather installed through the compromised September 2024 LG election orchestrated by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Okanla-led Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC).
In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party notes that Kpodo, just like his fellow appointed Chairmen,having been rigged into office against the will of Kwarans now see their primary responsibility as paying allegiance to the Governor, even at the expense of the people they are supposed to serve.
The Kwara PDP views the vandalisation of transformers as a direct consequence of the ongoing political feud between Governor Abdulrahman and Senator Salihu Mustapha. It is evident that the governor, threatened by Senator Mustapha's recent outdoor exchange of pleasantries with Dr. Bukola Saraki, the leader of PDP in Kwara, has resorted to using his loyalists, such as the Ilorin South Chairman, to unleash venoms and sabotage projects facilitated by the senator even at the expense of ordinary Kwarans.
While the Kwara PDP is unbothered by the growing internal conflicts within the Kwara APC under Abdulrazaq, knowing fully well that "Otoge" was a coalition of fake comrades brought together by hypocrisy and jealousy, we are however concerned about the disastrous consequence of these whole things on innocent citizens.
It is the people of Ilorin South, particularly the Alagbado community who are now forced to suffer due to the political insecurities and inferiority complex of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who, for fear of his depreciating goodwill has resorted to fighting everybody both in and outside his party.
This shameful act of vandalism is a criminal offense and a direct affront of the IBEDC code, we call on security agencies in the State and the IBEDC to immediately swing into action, investigate the matter thoroughly, and ensure that the lawless council chairman and those who gives such ridiculous directives face the full wrath of the law. Public infrastructure should never be sacrificed on the altar of political supremacy battles, and those responsible must be held accountable.

ReplyDeleteIn a bid to restore trust and clarify misunderstandings, representatives of the Joint Community of Alagbado Layout visited the Local Government Secretariat in Fufu. The meeting, attended by top local government officials, including Executive Chairman Hon. Nuhu Majeed Podo, Director of Personnel Management Mrs. Ogunsakin A. Modupe, NULGE Chairman Comr. Yakub Habeeb Bolaji, and the Head of Administration, along with four community layout chairmen.
Addressing False Accusations
The community representatives distanced themselves from propaganda and false accusations circulating in some media outlets, including *Sobi FM,* *Awoko Kwara,* *and Just Event Online* They stated categorically that the community does not condone or support such misinformation. The group emphasized that narratives suggesting the Executive Chairman brought in security operatives and suspected thugs were entirely fabricated. Instead, the arrangement to take possession of two transformers was a mutually agreed plan with the Executive Chairman, intended to facilitate an agreement between the two phases (1 & 2) in Area One of Alagbado.

During the meeting, the Joint Community issued formal apologies to the Governor, the State, and the Local Government Councils. The representatives expressed regret for miscommunications and any inconveniences caused. They acknowledged their errors and accepted full responsibility for any damage incurred by the Local Government Council.

Following the apologies, the community signed an undertaking to return the state and local government-procured transformer to its rightful source immediately.
