Ilorin, Kwara State — Tragedy struck the city of Ilorin as a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, identified as Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, was found dismembered after being declared missing. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
According to reports, Hafsoh went missing on Monday, February 10, 2025. Witnesses said she was attending a naming ceremony when she received a phone call from a friend. She stepped away to answer the call and was not seen again.
On Tuesday, February 11, her distraught parents reported the incident to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin. The police immediately launched an investigation, tracking the last call made to her phone. The call was traced to a man residing in the Ofa Garage area of Ilorin, with family roots in the Isalekoto neighborhood.
The suspect was apprehended but initially denied any knowledge of the victim’s whereabouts. However, a search of his residence revealed gruesome evidence. The victim’s dismembered body was discovered concealed in a bowl, along with the tools allegedly used in the act.
Upon further interrogation, the suspect confessed that Hafsoh had died of an asthma attack after he lured her to his home through a phone call. Disturbingly, investigators found evidence suggesting this might not be his first crime, as a table in his room appeared equipped for dismembering bodies.
The suspect is currently in police custody at the Kwara State Police Headquarters, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have commended the Oja Oba Police Division for their swift and effective response in cracking the case.
The suspect is reportedly the son of a well-known cleric from Isalekoto, Ilorin, whose father had recently passed away. The police have promised to release more details, including the suspect’s identity and additional evidence as investigations progress.
This horrifying incident has left the Ilorin community in shock, with residents calling for justice and a thorough investigation to determine if the suspect had other victims.
