VIDEOS: Defiance Of Plea By Kwara Govt Endangers Lives In Biada Community

The Kwara State government's failure to address the concerns of residents in Biada community, Ilorin South Local Government Area, nearly resulted in loss of life yesterday evening. KwaraReporters report.

Residents have been desperately calling on the state government to take action regarding the deteriorating bridge that connects Olorunshogo Gaa-akanbi area with Biada and neighboring communities. Unfortunately, their attempts to gain the government's attention have been met with indifference.

Yesterday evening, due to the appalling condition of the bridge, a tricycle transporting passengers from Biada to Gaa-akanbi roundabout collided with the protective brick demarcations set up by the community to warn motorists about the hazardous section of the road. The tricycle overturned, causing severe injuries to both the driver and passengers.

Clearly frustrated, Mallam Abdulkarim Zarumi the Chairman of the tricycle park on the Gaa-akanbi route emphasized the urgent need for the government to address the neglected state of the Olorunshogo - Biada community. He stressed that immediate repairs are necessary for the deteriorating bridge.

"Remarkably, the road connecting Olorunshogo junction to Biada has not undergone any renovations since its construction by Bukola Saraki. The Chairman noted that the road's deplorable condition has led to multiple accidents as motorists and commuters swerve to avoid potholes. The bridge itself is in such disrepair that only one Keke Napep (tricycle) can cross at a time, forcing others to wait. Despite numerous complaints and letters from the community to the governor, no action has been taken."

In light of these circumstances, residents are urgently calling on Hajia Mariam Aladi, the State House of Assembly member representing Ilorin South Constituency, to utilize her influence and prioritize the repair of the bridge and other damaged sections of the road. Immediate action is crucial to prevent future accidents and potential loss of life.
