Lawmaker Facilitates Water Project For Ago-Oja Community After Radio Programme

The residents of Ago-Oja Community in the Asa Local Government Area of Kwara Central Senatorial District have expressed their gratitude to Albarka FM for their instrumental role in bringing Solar-Powered Borehole Water to the community.

Confirming the success of the water intervention project, Mallam Daud Salahudeen Arolu, the district head of the community, stated that Hon. Yeeken Alajagusi, the representative for Ilorin West and Asa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, responded to their plight for clean drinking water shortly after a radio program aired on Albarka FM. During the program, the residents had shared their challenges of water scarcity, affecting thousands of people in the community.

It is worth noting that Albarka FM, in collaboration with the MacArthur Foundation and Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism, sponsored a program called 'Good Governance and Accountability (Ikakoyawo Ijoba Rere Fun Ara'Lu),' which aired every Thursday from 11 am to 12 pm. As part of the program, Albarka FM visited the Ago-Oja Community, where the residents vehemently complained about the lack of access to clean drinking water.

Mallam Daud Salahudeen, the district head, commended the media's impact and highlighted that the report by Albarka FM captured the attention of Hon. Yeeken Alajagusi, who promptly addressed their need for potable water by providing a Solar-Powered Borehole Water system. The project has since been functioning effectively, serving the community's water needs.

In addition to expressing their gratitude to Albarka FM for providing a platform to voice their infrastructure challenges, the community also extends their appreciation to Hon. Abdulyekeen Alajagusi, as well as Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe and Hon. Wahab Opakunle, urging them to address other infrastructure deficits in the community.
