NSCDC Arrest Two Meat Sellers For Selling Of Contaminated Beef In Kwara
Kwara state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has arrested a meat seller Bashiru Bala Zuru and his alleged accomplice Nawali Bala for reportedly attempting to sell contaminated beef to unsuspecting members of the public.
Spokesman of the command Babawale Afolabi said the two suspects were arrested in Patigi, Patigi local government area of the state.
Mr. Afolabi said, “On Saturday 18/09/2021 our men from Patigi divisional headquarters, who were acting on a tip-off arrested one Nawali Bala, a resident of Okoloke, Kogi State.
“Bala was caught with some contaminated cow meat neatly packed inside polythene bags.”
“During the interrogation, Bala confessed that the cow meat was given to him by Dantani Jayewu (at large) who also lives in Okoloke.”
Afolabi added that checks by the state ministry of environment and public health confirmed that the cow meat was not fit for human consumption.
He said the suspects would be charged to court at the completion of investigations.
