Kwara APC Chides Akogun Oyedepo Over Statement On APC Crisis
The Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has advised Chief Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo to bury his ego and stop working himself into an illusion of grandeur, stating that nothing qualifies him as Statesman or political leader for advancing ridiculous positions as conditions for peace with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
The party spokesperson, Alhaji Tajudeen Aro Folaranmi in his reaction to the comments by Oyedepo in his interview with newsmen, stated that in as much as there is no irreversible path in politics, which presupposes the position of no permanent friends or foes, Akogun's comments are not only garrulous but also impolitic.
In his words; "Since Akogun has ruled out the possibility of reconciliation in his submission, we can not fold our arms and dismiss his craze for preaching political schism and profanity to go unchallenged.
"We are equally aware that Akogun and his dream merchants promising the fall of APC have surreptitiously prepared an alternative vehicle ahead of the 2023 general elections, and are unsparing in destroying APC.
He further said; "We are not distracted because the APC in Kwara has built an electoral fortune, which is not only reaching the hearts of the common people, but also cultivating the friendship of the elite.
"We have always maintained that Akogun and other intransigent few are suffering from a kind of psychosis, having worked themselves into an illusion of grandeur that they made Governor Abdulrazaq with their false popularity. They are finding it difficult to live in the realm of reality and possibilities, which has plunge them into the present mess."
He also said; "As much as we want peace, we reject any selfish consideration for peace. The party is bigger than any individual no matter how self acclaimed.
"As a party, there are enough windows of opportunities to advance one's opinion or vent his anger, but Akogun and his cohorts have always refused to concede positions - apparently own to their erroneous mindset - for the benefit of peace, remaining adamant against the party's resolutions.
"But it is not too late for these intransigent few to change their pattern of behavior, see beyond the present and sheathe their swords, after all, irrespective of the righteousness of ones cause, there is often a time to concede for the benefit of the society." he said.
