Lukman Mustapha Congratulates Newly Elected Kwara NUJ Executives


The SOBI FM boss who is also the leading gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mallam Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha has congratulated the newly elected State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mallam Umar Abdulwahab.

In a press release he personally signed, he described the newly elected Chairman as a thorough bred professional who represents the finest breed of media practitioners who can hold his own anywhere in the globe, he however enjoined the newly elected executives of the council to fight for the Independence and professionalism in the profession, stressing that journalist are the mirror of the society and they must continually stand with the masses.

He said "I grew up addicted to NTA news and Newspapers, I know the indelible role media played in my formative life and I can say without fear of contradiction that media helped make me who I am today. 

"The media as the fourth estate of the realm is very pivotal in the society as the moulders of public opinion. 

The mandate placed on the shoulders of the new executives by the society is enormous and daunting, especially as the 2019 elections is fast approaching and the important opinion moulding role expected of men of the pen profession. 

"I enjoin the newly elected executives to ensure objectivity, fairness and balancing in reportage and avoid unnecessary sensationalism, we must all be patriotic in our reports and strive to be constructive and never destructive. 

"It wouldn't be out of place for the Council to charge and ensure its members assist in torchlighting the rot in our society. My tour of the State have given me first hand exposure into the plight of our people which to put it mildly is best left to imaginations. 

"It is hoped the NUJ under your watch will move away from conventional reportage of mundane happenings to assisting in bringing to limelight several ills of the society across the lengthy and breadth of the State" he advised. 

Lukman Olayiwola Mustapha popularly known as LOM however, promised his unflinching support towards ensuring the newly elected executives contribute meaningfully towards the Rebirth of the State.
