Being the text of address presented by the elected chairman of the executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the state congress held at the Arca Santa Arena Ilorin on Saturday 19, 2018

It gives me a great deal of joy to address this august gathering where distinguished Kwarans have decided to rewrite the history of our state thereby restoring lost hope and pride to the good people of the state.

As you are aware party politics occupies a central position in democracy and the promotion of good governance. This is the springboard for the desired growth and development the good people of our dear state are yearning for, which can only come when we get it right at party level through active participation of members, credible primaries and consolidating internal democracy.

Our great party, the APC came into existence in 2014 with different interest groups coming together with the sole aim of ending maladministration and high handedness in the corridor of power.

We gave the merger and new party every life needed to grow but some came in with a different agenda. Some members have done more to suffocate the merger bringing in antics inimical to the growth of democracy. The time to change the narrative is now. We have resolved that never shall we watch  a few clique fondling with our destiny.

I must salute the courage of every delegate at this centre today; you are the true heroes of democracy and the new pillars where the hope of our state will be anchored. Let me remind you that all eyes are on you, our people are looking in your direction to deliver Kwara from the state of inertia we are now.

You must bear in mind that the coming days shall be more challenging as those bent on maintaining the old order will put up more resistance to every good move made by you.

The case of attack on our members seeking to purchase nomination forms at the GRA secretariat yesterday Friday 18, 2018 is a case I wish to bring to your notice. We have always made it clear that giving an outgoing executive the right to sit over sales and issuance of nomination forms was an abberation.

Let us remain focus in the face of provocation, intimidation and harassment. We are on a daunting task to rescue our party and reposition the party for the coming elections.

We have resolved to solidly queue behind President Muhammadu Buhari and his government. The government of President Buhari has done more good to Kwarans than any Nigerian president in our recent history.

We have about six federal roads undergoing construction and rehabilitation simultaneously. We have a substantive member in the federal executive council and two ambassadors representing Nigeria on a foreign mission. Several thousands of Kwara indigenes and residents are currently enjoying the social investments program like the N-Power scheme.

Let me at this juncture appreciate members of the congress committee for a good job that has culminated in the colourful event we are witnessing today. You have done very well.

Let me equally remind you that, foul smelling-pollutant requires sweet smelling deodorant to have a beautiful environment.

Our party needs to be rescued from the jackals and hyenas that have held her in the jugular over the years. This is the time to return the party to the path of honour and integrity. There will never be any vacuum should some any bloc of serial decampees decide to leave the party today.

I require your unconditional support to move our party forward. I need you in the process to build a united party that will be useful to us and with the potential of benefiting an average Kwaran.

Our slogan remains APC, and the chorus is change.
