Yoruba Road Market Owners Protest Over High Tax By The Kwara Government
Yoruba Road market owners on a peaceful protest to the Kwara state government house over the issue of high tax charges on them.
The Market owners and market workers decided to embark on this peaceful protest because of the high rate of tax levied on them by the state government through it agency Kwara Inland Revenue Service (KWIRS).
According to one of the marketer our correspondent interview, he said "We are tired of this government, this government want to kill us with there high rate of tax. Look at it now almost everyday we pay tax and despite their high tax rate nothing we can point to as gain in return of our tax from the government. So we decided to organize ourselves and go on a peaceful protest to show our plight towards this issue".
According to another market owner, she said "The government want to kill us with high tax, look at me now I am a widow with six children and from this market I am able to feed my family and pay my children school fees, but with this high tax payment I am not finding it easy to provide for my family. We are here to beg them to please help us to reduce this tax".
