KWASU VC Appoints Ajani as Library Coordinator


The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, has approved the appointment of a Library Coordinator for the University Library. She is Mrs. Florence Olabisi Ajani.

This followed the retirement of the University Librarian, Mr. Isiaka Atunde Alao, on March 15, 2018.

As the most senior member of the KWASU Library, Mrs. Ajani is to lead the University Library pending the appointment of a substantive University Librarian.

Her appointment took effect from March 16.

“Welcome to leading our Twenty-First Century KWASU Library. I am proud of you and confident that you will perform excellently in your new leading role. Thanks for all your contributions to KWASU thus far. Please count on my support always,” the Vice-Chancellor remarked in an email to the Library Coordinator.

In her response, Ajani thanked the VC for the trust and privilege bestowed on her to serve as the acting Library Coordinator pending the appointment of a substantive Coordinator by the University management.

“I’m assuring you that by the grace of God the library will progress and greater achievements will be recorded. I won’t let you down and will also protect the good image of the library and KWASU at large,” she added.

Mrs. Florence Olabisi Ajani is a Chattered Librarian and registered member of the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria. She holds a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and MLS degree in Library and Information Studies.

She is at present at the tail end of her Ph.D. training on Library/Media Resources in Education at the University of Ibadan. She hails from Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State. The new appointee started her career as a Systems Analyst at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State in 2000 and was later upgraded to a Librarian II in 2005.

Mrs. Ajani had also worked at Osun State University, Osogbo as Librarian I and later joined the services of Kwara State University as Senior Librarian in 2013. She is currently a Principal Librarian and Head of the Technical Services of the University Library.

With specialisation in Information Technology and its application to library management and services, she has published a number of scholarly articles in International and Local peer-reviewed journals, and has also participated in many conferences, where she either presented papers or was invited as resource person.
