KWASU Lecturer Wins AAU Award

A Lecturer in the Department of Public Health, College of Pure and Applied Sciences, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Mrs. Olufunto Badmus, has won the Association of African Universities (AAU) grants for theses and dissertations, 2017/2018 Academic Year.

Badmus, who applied for the award in 2017, also had a successful outing at the International Diabetes Federation Conference in Abu Dhabi recently, as she was able to establish contacts with some topnotch professors and researchers from world-class institutions, such as Harvard Medical School, University of Pretoria, and Stellenbosch University.

“I am optimistic that this will result in collaborations that will be beneficial to our great Institution. Interestingly, the Professor from Harvard Medical School has promised to give me a postdoctoral position at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a wing of Harvard Medical School, as soon as I finish my PhD, which hopefully will be this year by the grace of God,” she stated.

It will be recalled that Mrs. Badmus had also won the Best Oral Presenter award at the 7th International Congress of the African Association of Physiological Sciences in 2016.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, commended the scholar for the achievements and urged her not to rest on her oars.
