[VIDEO] 2027 Elections: More LG Endorses Sen. Lola Ashiru For Kwara Gov, as Ekiti LG Demands Fair Representation

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ekiti local government area of Kwara state have emphasized imperative of unity, saying that previous crisis had undermined political advancement of the area and Kwara South.

Chairman, Communiqué Committee, Hon. Otunba Taiwo Joseph, said that there is need for party cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Joseph, who said that the event was convened to deliberate on, equitable political representation, party cohesion and strategic preparedness ahead of the forthcoming general elections, also expressed strong confidence in the APC’s prospects in the 2027 governorship and legislative elections, "contingent on strict adherence to internal democracy, inclusiveness, and transparent party processes".

The people appealed to the national leadership of the APC and Governor of Kwara dtate, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to give consideration to longstanding aspirations of Ekiti local government within the Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun Federal Constituency.

The stakeholders also stressed the need for fairness by providing Ekiti local government the opportunity to produce a representative in the House of Representatives.

On governorship, the people called for presentation of a governorship candidate with experience, competence, and a proven record of service.

"In this regard, stakeholders expressed strong support for the Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, citing his legislative experience, leadership capacity, and commitment to good governance".

For inclusive political participation, they called on all qualified and capable progressives from Ekiti local government to seek elective positions, particularly the Federal Constituency seat, in the 2027 elections.

"The meeting reaffirmed that the governorship position is open to aspirants from all senatorial districts, expressing confidence in the quality of leadership available across the state.

"Stakeholders reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, while committing themselves to disciplined engagement, grassroots mobilization, and sustained efforts to strengthen the party’s dominance in Kwara South and Ekiti Local Government
