Kwara: APC Members Protest in Irepodun Ward, Accuse Governor’s Aide of Intimidation

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ipetu/Rore/Aran-Orin Ward of Irepodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest against one of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s aides, Mr. Michael Olayinka Fafoluyi, popularly known as Solace.

The party members accused Solace of allegedly using the name of the governor to intimidate and threaten party loyalists in the ward. The protesters, who marched with placards bearing various inscriptions, claimed that the aide’s activities since joining the ward in March 2025 have been divisive and destabilizing.

Some of the placards displayed during the protest read:

“O Tó Gé Solace - political experience is not by noise-making. Stop claiming our ward.”

“Ipetu/Rore/Aran-Orin Ward stands for peace. Enough of Solace’s divisive actions.”

“Stop using the Governor’s name to disrupt our peace, Hon. Yinka Fafoluyi.”

According to the protesters, Solace has allegedly been leveraging his relationship with Governor AbdulRazaq and the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, to create factions and exert undue influence over party affairs in the ward.

A spokesperson for the protesting group said the ward has enjoyed stability for years before what they described as “the recent interference.”

“We remain loyal to the APC, the governor, and the Speaker. But we will not tolerate anyone using their names to cause division. Our ward has always been peaceful, and we want it to remain so,” the spokesperson said.

The protesters called on Governor AbdulRazaq and APC leadership in the state to urgently intervene and address the situation to prevent further breakdown of unity within the party at the grassroots level.

They emphasized their commitment to the party’s progress and urged the leadership to ensure that all internal party matters are handled with fairness and adherence to party values.
