Banditry: One Shot In Kwara Border Community
One person has reportedly sustained a gunshot injury after two vehicles were attacked by suspected bandits at the border town of Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Friday night.
The Tribune gathered that a male occupant of one of the two vehicles, an evangelism bus belonging to the National Congress of Evangelization, Operation Good News, Oyo State chapter , sustained a gunshot injury to his left leg. He was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and later discharged.
It was further gathered that the vehicles were travelling to Isanlu, Kogi State, along the Eruku–Obbo Ile Road when they came under attack by the hoodlums.
According to eyewitness accounts, “The attackers emerged from both sides of the road and began shooting indiscriminately at the moving vehicles. The driver reportedly managed to speed away from the scene, narrowly avoiding a more tragic outcome.
“One of the passengers sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, who confirmed the incident to the Tribune, said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
“Two vehicles travelling to Isanlu in Kogi were attacked. One was carrying grains, while the other conveyed passengers going to attend a wedding ceremony in Isanlu. A person sustained a gunshot injury to the left leg. He was treated and discharged. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the perpetrators,” the police boss said.
