Tragedy As Man Stabs Friend To Death In Kwara
A 25-year-old in Kwara State has been reported to have been stabbed by his friend during an heated argument.
The incident which occurred in Ilorin, the state’s capital, happened on Tuesday evening. The deceased identified as Hammed Tunde, was said to be a very close friend of the Perpetrator.
Some eyewitnesses while speaking with the press, explained that the incident began with a mild argument.
“The argument was about a girlfriend they were both interested in. Before we knew it, Gafar brought out a knife and stabbed his friend,” they said.
The suspect, Gafar, fled the scene immediately after committing the act. SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, Hammed Usman Tunde, was stabbed by his friend, Gafar, who fled immediately after the incident. Operatives later visited the suspect’s family house, but the entire household had absconded,” she said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, also sympathised with the family of the deceased, assuring them of the ongoing efforts to track down the suspect.
“We understand the pain of losing a loved one in such a tragic way, but we urge everyone to remain calm as the police intensify efforts to bring the suspect to justice,” he said.
