...Says Taxpayers’ Money being Spent on Deputy Governor and His Family Is a Waste
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State is alarmed by the shocking relocation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp from its statutory site in Yikpata to Ilorin on account of escalating insecurity across the state describing it as unfortunate and embarrassing to the image of the state
The party in a statement issued in Ilorin on Friday and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara decried the situation as saddening and unfortunate noting that Kwara people deserve a leader who is present, responsive, and accountable but currently, they are left with an absentee Governor and Deputy Governor whose actions suggest a complete disconnection from the plight of the people
"As a party , we believe that a matter of this magnitude—touching on the safety of our young graduates from other states and the reputation of Kwara before the entire nation— the Governor ought to be on ground and talk directly to people but here we are , the Governor has left the people to learn of such a critical development from social media bloggers.
Instead of facing this head-on like his colleagues in Borno, Yobe, Niger and Kaduna, Abdulrahman keeps enjoying opulence overseas and splashing taxpayers money on football players
Abdulrahman failure to directly communicate on critical issues, such as the NYSC camp relocation, speaks volumes about his cluelessness on the gravity of insecurity and lack empathy for the public's well-being. While other state governors are on the ground with their people, holding security council meetings , strategizing to tackle the menace of insecurity and communicating their people, our own Governor has chosen to remain incommunicado and unbothered.
Despite repeated warnings by civil society groups, community leaders and well-meaning Kwarans on the escalating wave of kidnapping, killings and violent crimes across our state, Governor Abdulrahman has remained defiantly indifferent, speechless and unavailable
Equally disturbing is the total invisibility of his Deputy, Kayode Alabi, who hails from one of the worst-hit areas but has remained mum despite the daily attacks and killings of his people. It is unfortunate that Month after month, year after year, Kwara continues to waste public funds paying a Deputy Governor whose relevance is reduced to drawing salary, running personal errands and feeding his family—while offering no tangible leadership in a time of grave crisis.
This pattern of leadership failure is further compounded by the Governor’s continuous absence from the state is an indication that Kwara people are "On Your Own" autopilot leadership.
The Kwara PDP condemns this dereliction of duty and calls on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to immediately return home and face the challenges plaguing our state. We also call on the Kwara State House of Assembly and relevant security agencies to hold the executive accountable for its constitutional duty to protect lives and property.
We urge Kwarans to rise and hold this government accountable for its wasteful spending, failed security policies, and uninspiring leadership. The future of our state cannot be sacrificed on the altar of personal comfort and political convenience.
