Kwara Governor Appoints New Traditional Rulers For Epe-Opin, Others


• charges them on security consciousness, community development

The Kwara State Government has appointed a new traditional ruler for Epe-Opin community in Ekiti Local Government Area, Oba Alabi Odeniyi Gabriel as Elepe of Epe-Opin, a 4th class traditional ruler from the council area.

The State governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, who was represented by the commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi Bata was heralded with the presentation of letters of appointment and staff of office to three new traditional rulers.

The ceremony, held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, was attended by several dignitaries.


Oba Alabi Odeniyi Gabriel was appointed as the new Elepe of Epe-Opin, a 4th class traditional ruler in Ekiti Local Government Area. Two other traditional rulers were also appointed: Oba Isiaka Malik Babatunde Adekeye as the Alagunjin of Agunjin, a 3rd class traditional ruler, and Oba Abdulrasaq Adekola Salaudeen as the new Olowo of Ita Olowo, a 4th Class traditional ruler, both from Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Governor AbdulRasaq, charged the new traditional rulers to work towards the development of their communities. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between traditional rulers and government in promoting peace and stability.


The ceremony was attended by prominent personalities, including Prince Sunday Fagbemi, Kwara State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC); Honourable Awelewa Olawale Gabriel, Executive Chairman of Ekiti Local Government; Major Yusuf Femi, Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Council.

Other dignitaries present are the lawmakers representing Ekiti Constituency , Honourable Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel and Oke-Ero constituency, Honourable Bamigboye Olajire.

The appointments and presentation ceremony demonstrate the Kwara State Government's commitment to supporting traditional institutions and promoting community development. The new traditional rulers are expected to play a vital role in maintaining peace and stability in their communities.
