Bandits Kill Police Officer, Loot Market in Kwara

The incident was disclosed by counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, via a post on his X handle on Saturday.
According to reports, the attack occurred around 1:00 p.m. when the assailants arrived on motorbikes and launched a coordinated assault on the Babanla Police Station.
During the raid, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Adejumo Wasiu, attached to the Area Commander's Office in Offa, was shot dead, and his AK-47 rifle was taken by the attackers.
Makama stated that although the police station was ransacked, no other weapons were stolen, as they had been securely stored at the time of the attack.
After the assault on the police facility, the bandits proceeded to the town’s market, where they looted large quantities of foodstuffs.
A joint team comprising military personnel, police officers, vigilantes, and local hunters was later mobilized to repel the attackers and restore calm in the community.
As of the time of filing this report, the number of civilian casualties had not yet been confirmed.
