Shock As Oludofian Of Idofian, Passes Away

The Idofian community in Ifelodun Local Government Area has been thrown into mourning following the unexpected death of His Royal Majesty, Oba Muhammed Jamiu Omikunle II, the Oludofian of Idofian, who died today after reigning for just one year and six months.

Oba Omikunle II was installed on January 5, 2024, receiving his staff of office from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs ceremony in Ilorin.

A devout leader, he worked tirelessly to unite his people and advocate for community development, including schools, hospitals, and roads.

In a press statement echoing the tone of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu‑Gambari, Mai‑Martaba, Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, extended profound condolences to the family of the late monarch and the people of Idofian. The Emir described Oba Omikunle II’s passing as the undeniable will of Almighty Allah, and prayed for strength and resilience for the bereaved community:

“We commiserate deeply with the family, the Idofian Traditional Council, the government, and the people of Ifelodun LGA. We pray Al‑lah grants Oba Omikunle II eternal rest and bestows patience upon his subjects.”

Though His Majesty’s reign was brief, he was remembered for his peace-building efforts and unwavering commitment to cultural unity. The Emir’s message underscored the divine imperatives of leadership and the fragility of human tenure—echoing his recent condolences upon the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadan.
