Adeleke Begins Second Phase Of Osogbo-Kwara Road, Unveils Ila Dual Carriage Project

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday, flagged off the second phase of the Osogbo/Kwara Boundary dual carriage road, with an assurance that the project would be delivered in 12 months.

The governor also performed a groundbreaking ceremony for the first Ila Orangun dual carriageway.

Speaking at the brief ceremony held in Ikirun to formally commence work on the second phase of the Osogbo/Kwara Boundary road, Adeleke recalled that the first phase of the project was awarded to a contractor in the year 2012 but was not completed until his first 100 days in office as governor.

“Within 100 days in office, we are able to bring to completion the 1st phase of this dualisation, which was awarded in 2012, aside other projects that were completed within our 100 days in office.

“It is believed that the completion of the dualisation of Osogbo-Ikirun-Inisha-Okuku-Ijabe and finally Ila Odo, which is the boundary town with our neighbouring Kwara State, a total length of 39 km, is of paramount importance to this administration, and I am committed to the completion of this project by the grace of God.

“The second phase, which we are flagging off today, is almost the same length as what was completed in 12 years. By the grace of God, we intend to deliver this project within 12 months,” Adeleke stated.

Earlier, while speaking in Ila Orangun, the governor said his administration has so far completed the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and renovation of over 175 kilometres of roads, while its dualisation and flyover projects ongoing in some towns in the state have reached various stages of completion.

Announcing the take-off of the dualisation of the first phase of 3.5 km of the Ila township road, Adeleke further said, “This project will be delivered in 10 months by the grace of God.

“As part of my government efforts to open up Osun State through road infrastructure, I have also approved the rehabilitation of the Ila-Ora-Oke Ila road. The rehabilitation job has reached Oke Ila junction.”
