In a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and criminality in Kwara State, troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, operating under the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi, have successfully rescued two kidnap victims and apprehended eight suspected kidnappers during a daring operation in Latandaji Village, Patigi Local Government Area.

The raid, which took place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, was based on credible intelligence and executed with tactical precision.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the troops encountered mild resistance but quickly subdued the suspects with superior firepower.

Rescued from captivity were Mr. Amos Moses and Mr. Philip Michael, while a suspected kidnapper, Mr. Mohammed Mohammed, sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Bachita Teaching Hospital.

Further search of the area led to the recovery of two motorcycles and two expended cartridges, believed to have been used by the suspects. All eight arrested individuals are currently in military custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to public safety and called on residents to provide timely, actionable intelligence to support ongoing security efforts.

“This operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to safeguard lives and property,” the statement added.
