Hon. Bio Embarks on Compassionate Condolence Visits Amid Disturbing Insecurity Across His Constituency

In a poignant demonstration of empathy and support, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Budget and Research and MHR representing the good people of Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio, the federal lawmaker representing the Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, undertook a series of condolence visits to communities/families grieving the victims of bandit attacks in Kaiama LGA. Accompanied by members of the APC Elders' Council and a multitude of supporters from Baruten, Hon. Bio traveled to Kaiama LGA to express solidarity with the bereaved and to pray for the departed souls during this difficult time.


Upon arriving in Kaiama, the lawmaker was warmly received by a large crowd of party leaders, loyalists, and supporters at the Government Secondary School (GSS), Kaiama. From there, they proceeded to the Office of the Executive Chairman of Kaiama LGA Chairman of the Kwara State's ALGON, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Danladi. After exchanging pleasantries and engaging in a brief private discussion, the two leaders and the entourage made their way to the palace of the Emir of Kaiama, His Royal Highness Alh. Muazu Shehu Omar, Bagidi Ki-Yaru IV, who welcomed them with warmth and royal blessings. The Council Chairman conveyed the purpose of their visit, highlighting Hon. Bio’s commitment to condole with the Emir and the people of Kaiama over the recent tragedies and ongoing disturbing insecurity in the LGA. The Emir expressed gratitude for the visit, offering prayers for a safe journey as they continued to affected communities.

Hon. Bio and the entourage, led by the Council Chairman, Hon. Danladi, then proceeded to Kugiji village, visiting the palace of the Kiwozi of Wazibe, Alh. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed. There, they received a warm welcome from the Kiwozi and other traditional leaders, including the Ki-Garede of Banisunla, Mallam Garba Salihu, and the Gere of Shirigwaria, Mallam Zakari Bio. Hon. Danladi articulated the purpose of their visit, stressing that Hon. Bio was there to sympathize with the community over the loss of lives, particularly acknowledging the sacrifices of local vigilantes and soldiers who fell victim in the line of duty. The visitors united in prayer for both the departed souls and for victory over the bandits. The Kiwozi, grateful for their support, appealed for more military presence and resources to combat the rising tide of attacks, detailing the ongoing challenges faced by the vigilantes and the impact of insecurity on communities lives. Hon. Danladi assured him that he would relay these requests to the state's Chief Security Officer, while also addressing needs for more operational motorcycles for the vigilantes.

Next, the entourage visited Kemanji, where they met the Saoki of Kemanji, Mallam Muhammed Sani Zikki, in his palace. He expressed appreciation for Hon. Bio's visit, emphasizing the significance of their presence during a time of distress. The Saoki thanked Hon. Danladi for his unwavering support amid the escalating insecurity, while also requesting assistance for the military and vigilantes. The Council Chairman assured him that measures would be taken to address these concerns, preceding a moment of prayer for the victims and an appeal for divine intervention against the bandits.

Following these heartfelt discussions, the entourage visited the military camp in Kemanji, where Hon. Bio made an emotional address to the soldiers bravely combating insecurity in the area. Expressing his deep gratitude for their service, he offered prayers for their fallen comrades and wished protection for those who continue to serve. Hon. Bio recognized Captain E.E. Essien for his exemplary leadership, highlighting the positive feedback he had received about the captain’s dedication from the members of Kemanji community and environs. Captain Essien, in turn, expressed appreciation for the visit and prayers support and appealed for provision of basic necessities at the proposed new location. They departed Kemanji back to Kaiama.

Returning to Kaiama, the entourage paid a visit to party stalwart Alh. Abdulwahab, who had been grappling with serious health challenges. After expressing gratitude for his recovery post-amputation, Hon. Bio offered gestures of support for his ongoing healing and wished him a speedy recovery. The lawmaker then extended his condolences to Alh. Mohammed Aliyu Danladi (Haske) over the recent loss of his wife, Hajia Zainab Aliyu, and prayed for her eternal peace.

Further afield, the entourage visited the family of Jimoh Tailor to convey their condolences for the loss of the APC Assistant Woman Leader in Kaiama Ward 1, Mrs Aminah Idris (Meri). They prayed for her forgiveness and implored Allah to grant her Jannah Firdaus, seeking comfort for her bereaved family.

The final stop of the day brought Hon. Bio and the entourage back to the Council Chairman’s office, where the visit ended with farewell pleasantries. This visit, overshadowed by loss and sorrow, taken special significance as it coincided with the Eid-el-Adha festival celebrations, allowing Hon. Bio to partake in the shared joy with family, party members, and supporters—a rare opportunity to find moments of celebration amid the prevailing grief.
