Gobir Family Expresses Gratitude For Successful Coronation of 10th Sarkin Gobir Ilorin
The Gobir community in Ilorin Emirate has expressed profound gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, and well-wishers who honored the coronation of the 10th Sarkin Gobir Ilorin, Alhaji Yakubu Abubakar Garba Gobir, held on Friday, 21st February 2025.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Gobir family, Prof. Iliyasu Gobir extended appreciation to all attendees whose presence made the historic occasion truly remarkable.
The community was especially honored by the presence of His Royal Highness, Mai Martaba Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the Emir of Ilorin, whose blessings and support added immense significance to the event. Also recognized were the representatives of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Daura, and His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, whose participation reaffirmed the deep historical ties between the Gobir people and their traditional allies.
The statement further acknowledged His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, Executive Governor of Kwara State, represented by Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq, Mutawali Ngeri, as well as the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State’s representative. Their goodwill messages and presence underscored the importance of the occasion.

The Gobir family also recognized distinguished personalities such as Prof. Hon. Ali Ahmad (SAN), Prof. Olaolu Ali (SAN, Kuliyan Garin), Hon. Moshood Mustapha (Wakilin Ngarin), Hon. Ganiyu Cook Olododo (Mai Gaskiya Ilori), Alhaji Lukman Mustapha (Chairman, Board of Directors, Sobi FM), and Alhaji Abdulkadir Attahiru Adamu Manko (Chairman, HAM Foundation) for their participation.

In addition, members of the Gobir Development Association (GDA), including its Board of Trustees, leadership, and mobilization committee, were commended for their unwavering support in ensuring the success of the coronation.
The Gobir community extended its gratitude to various government officials, traditional rulers, scholars, and well-wishers who contributed to the event’s success. Special appreciation was given to those who could not attend in person but sent messages of goodwill.
Prof. Iliyasu Gobir, speaking on behalf of the Gobir family, concluded with a heartfelt prayer for continued unity, prosperity, and stronger bonds of friendship among all communities.
