Gunmen Release Igbo Businessman In Kwara After Family Pays N10m Ransom

Gunmen have released a South-East businessman Emeka Nwachukwu, who was kidnapped on Wednesday in Kwara State.
A family source told SaharaReporters on Monday that Nwachukwu was released on Sunday after his family paid a N10 million ransom.

Another police source confirmed to SaharaReporters that the Divisional Police Officer in Kosubosu confirmed Nwachukwu’s release following the payment of the ransom to the abductors.

"Efforts are being made to track the kidnappers and bring them to justice."

Earlier on Thursday, SaharaReporters reported that the businessman was abducted by unknown gunmen at his clinic in Kosubosu, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.

It was gathered that the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, leaving the community in fear.

However, on Thursday morning, the kidnappers contacted Nwachukwu’s family, demanding initially a ransom of N100 million for his release.

When SaharaReporters contacted the spokesperson for the state police command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, she had said, "Efforts are underway. Police officers have been mobilised to the bush to rescue the victim."
