Towoju Urges Nigerians to Shun Protest

The former Commissioner for Youth Development in Kwara State, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, has advised those planning to protest to desist from this unproductive venture at this critical time, considering past experiences.

Towoju, in his statement on Tuesday, described President Bola Tinubu's leadership capacity as a blessing to Nigeria.

He said "I strongly believe that the leadership of President Tinubu is a blessing to Nigeria, and his bold and decisive actions are setting the country on the right path. His commitment to removing subsidies, despite the initial pain, will ultimately lead to increased availability and affordability of essential commodities. This courageous move has already started yielding positive results, as petroleum products are now readily available, and the economy is gradually stabilizing. Furthermore, the removal of subsidies has enabled the government to allocate more funds to critical sectors, such as infrastructure development, education, and healthcare, which will have a lasting impact on the nation's growth and prosperity."

"The increase in FAAC allocations to states should make them accountable for their expenditure. The previous administration's borrowings were unprecedented, with little to show for it. Tinubu's courageous steps to remove subsidies, though painful, will soon bring smiles to Nigerians' faces. No pain, no gain. The price increase of essential commodities due to subsidy removal is causing pain, but increased production will naturally bring prices down. Granting autonomy to local governments is another laudable initiative of the Tinubu presidency, driving democracy to the grassroots despite opposition. The Dangote Refinery will stabilize local fuel consumption once optimized. Massive investments in infrastructure, wage increments, and removal of subsidies couldn't have been possible without borrowing. We can't rely on foreign borrowings forever.

"While protest is a legitimate instrument in a civil society, I fear that this planned protest is ill-timed. Miscreants may hijack it, leading to looting and loss of life, as seen during EndSARS. Let's avoid loss of life and make our requests through the right channels, praying for our leaders and standing with them against cabals working against the nation's prosperity. Tinubu wants to build a prosperous Nigeria with our support. Let's work together, as a tree cannot make a forest.

"God bless Ayedun Kingdom, Oke-Ero LG, Kwara State, and Nigeria."
