NBS: Kwara, Ekiti and Kogi Lead in Food Inflation
According to the latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), inflation rates in Nigeria have shown significant disparities across different states.
On a year-on-year basis, Kogi (46.32%), Ekiti (44.94%), and Kwara (44.66%) recorded the highest food inflation rates in the country. Meanwhile, Borno (25.97%), Benue (27.74%), and Delta (28.67%) had the slowest rise in headline inflation.
When looking at the all-items inflation rates on a year-on-year basis, Bauchi (42.30%), Kogi (39.38%), and Oyo (37.73%) were the states with the highest figures.
However, the trend changes on a month-on-month basis. Kano (4.24%), Gombe (4.06%), and Bauchi (3.75%) were the states with the highest all-items inflation rates, while Ondo (0.57%), Kwara (1.19%), and Yobe (1.24%) had the slowest rise.
In terms of food inflation on a month-on-month basis, Gombe (4.88%), Kano (4.68%), and Bayelsa (3.62%) recorded the highest rates. On the other hand, Ondo (0.02%), Yobe (0.95%), and Adamawa (1.02%) had the slowest rise.
The NBS report highlights the significant regional disparities in inflation across Nigeria, which can have important implications for policymakers and the overall economic landscape.
