Asoju Odo Sponsors Community Football Competion In Oke-Ero, Reiterate Commitment To Sport Development At Grassroot
The YPP House of Reps Candidate for Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency Charles Olufemi Folayan yesterday performed the opening ceremony of the intra-community football competition at Kajola town, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Speaking at the event, Folayan expressed joy for having young people who are committed to developing themselves and their community through sports activities.
He said grassroot sport engagement plays a vital role in the fight against insecurity and social vices among the youth.
He also blamed the lack of good sport infrastructures at the grassroot on lack of visionary leadership in the local government, constituency and the State.
"It's unfortunate that we don't have good sport facilities in the various communities in our constituency, that alone is a sign of leadership failure in the local, constituency and the State. It simply means we lack visionary leaders. Sport is one of the major ways we can fight insecurity and the various social vices around communities.
He promised to invest on grassroots sport development when elected. "I want to reiterate here that grassroot sport development would be one of my area of focus when elected to the house of representatives.
The Football competition tagged "Kajola 2021/22 five aside football competition" would be match between Ipekun, Oke-Osi, Igbinlo, Ipara, Oke-Oyo, Igemo, Itoto and Ilowe as part of activities to mark the new yam festival in Kajola community.
